Although Crazy Rich Asians has been around fir some time now, I’ve never read the book nor seen the movie. In fact, I didn’t realize that there was a series of three books. However, one of my friends sent me a photo of a page from the last book. My husband’s grandfather, a well-known French photographer was mentioned. She said the books were hysterically funny.I bit the bullet and purchased. And I feel bad that my family had to deal with me putting everything aside in between Christmas preparations to lie down on the sofa and read. And read. And read!Without giving spoilers, Kevin Kwan has managed to intertwine generations of ....well.... Crazy Rich Asians and their selfishness, entitlement and obsession with brand names to a level of high entertainment! The central story follows a couple, Nick Young and Rachel Chu..and how others attempt to sabotage their relationship. That’s all I’m gonna tell you!You really need to pay attention in the first few chapters of the first book because the families are incredibly huge and a good number of characters are introduced. Once you get past that.. it’s smooth sailing. My only criticism is in the second and third books, at times it reads like a fashion magazine with all the name dropping , getting to the juice of the story line is more fun!Regardless, if you want an easy read that’s fun and entertaining and need something to make you chuckle and giggle (because 2020 needs to go away!) this series is it!Ohhhhh and the third book is especially fun-my husband got a kick when I surprised him by reading the paragraph that mentions his grandfather!!!!
