Description
Recorded in Cologne by VICTOR VAN VUGT (Nick Cave, PJ Harvey), "The Repulsion Box" is the first LP from this Scottish quartet, following their lauded "Love the Cup" EP. Infusing an increasingly more stomping rock sound to their lyrics of relationships gone bad, the band uses traditional musical elements of their homeland beat and ground with whiskey-drunk rock to make an LP for all modern cultures to enjoy. Have toured extensively with FRANZ FERDINAND and CLINIC. Look for upcoming tour with the DECEMBERISTS.

This album starts off great. They have a really good irish-punk kind of sound happening at first. Then it turns more into less irishy punk. I hate to use the word punk because I don't want to draw connotations of lame pop-punk bands. This is a very good album. The only thing negative I have to say, hence the 4 stars, is that towards the end of the album the songs get a little redundant. They start to sound the same a little bit. I would, however, reccomend this album. It probably got about 5 or so play-throughs in my CD player before it was replaced.
