70 MINUTES OF MID-90s TV BROADCASTS FROM JOHN FOGERTY By the mid 1990s, John Fogerty - a veritable legend in late 1960s and early-to-mid 1970s musical folklore - had been back in the world of recording and performing for the best part of a decade, having spent numerous years previously on what many had assumed was to be permanent hiatus. But thankfully, John had finally found the peace of mind for which he had been searching during this fallow time, following what the man himself suggested were insurmountable legal and financial stresses, brought about by his war with former record company Fantasy. In 1980, John even agreed to forgo any future sales royalties on all of the music he produced with the mighty CCR in exchange for Fantasy finally releasing him from his contract with the label - a deal which inevitably cost him millions of dollars. TV and radio networks, having cottoned on to the fact that Fogerty was back on the circuit and realising just how popular and respected he still was, began inviting this maverick composer and performer to come onto their shows and give his still very dedicated and enormous fan base a bit of what they were still hungry for. One such show, VH1 s Storytellers - a series which featured archive artists performing their classic tunes and telling their most fascinating stories - employed a format that generally worked remarkably well. John Fogerty performed on a 1997 episode of the show and the entire recording of that delightful event opens this CD, and comprises the initial 10 cuts. Following this, further 1997 recordings that John made for Letterman and other chat shows are featured, and which in total make up this wonderful album, which in completion comprises more than 70 minutes of superb music from the second phase of John Fogerty s extraordinary career in music.
