I would recommend everyone buys oneAt first the switch wasn’t working. But after exercising it for about 39-49 seconds. It became operable. I would also recommend that you tighten the screws inside. After some use the operator fell apart. It was easily fixed.2FF. It's my return gift to my bro in law. He gave me a can of Nothing. Literally...Are you dumb as hell? Have you played toilet tennis? This useless box is right in your wheelhouse! I bought it as a gag gift and it was a hit. At this price, the laughs are a bargain.I don't know about quality and durability. Lets face it. The novelty will wear off quickly and it will sit on your shelf, and this thing is likely to have the batteries sweat out acid before it will break. I can tell you though, it's clean, cheap fun.I saw this item locally a month or two ago, and thought it would be perfect as a White Elephant Christmas gift. I have a couple of these parties to go to - all with different people - so I bought three. When the package arrived, one unit worked fine but the other two wouldn't function. On one, the switch was permanently frozen. On the other, the motor unit was so far tilted to the side it had half broken-off. Also, the little hinges were so far off they wouldn't function But I had one working unit to attend the Christmas party that day, and it was a HUGE hit. Got 'stolen' all the time, and was pretty much the only present to do so.I will say the seller was very communicative and agreed to send two replacement units within two hours of contact, which arrived four business days later. Of the two replacement units, one worked fine and the other had a similar tilt issue, but I was able to carefully work the parts back into place where they lined up. So with a little doing, I now have two working replacements.As far as a gag gift or conversation starter, this item is awesome. But I put the chances of getting a working unit at about 50%.OMG. This is just like my adult children. Completely useless since they both move back home.When asked to do a chore they say okay and then sit down and don't do it.This little device is the perfect metaphor for their existence on the planet. I hope they change before their batteries run out.PS. they're kind of dim and don't understand the reference to being completely useless.This is 100% what it's advertised to be. I've wanted one for a long time but couldn't justify the significantly higher price from ThinkGeek. I was on Amazon looking for a present for my father in law's birthday and came across this. There was much squealing and slapping at my husband and we immediately ordered it. It arrived quickly and very well packaged. It smells heavenly, like freshly cut wood. We had to do a bit of trial and error with batteries because it didn't come with any, even though it was advertised to. It also didn't work with AA, we used two AAA batteries and it works like a charm. I do wish it moved just a little slower when turning itself off, but we've already done 'quality control' for a good 10 minutes and love it. It seems perfect for the guy who brought home a broken doorbell that chimed randomly and used it to torment his family for days.Love this little box! I can't wait for people to turn on the switch and see the look on their faces when the little finger pops out of the box and switches itself back off!Regardless of some other, ahem, "reviews", yes the box is indeed made of wood (don't know what they think it is), and it takes 2 (two) double-A (2A) batteries exactly as described.It is light weight, but reasonably well made, and the wood is stained nicely and smells good. The hinges and latches are metal and look like tarnished brass which is a perfect look for this application.What more can you ask for of a novelty item like this? Perfect for an office desk, coffee table, anywhere people will see it and inevitably switch it on and get a chuckle. Love it. Have I already said that? It's just that fun.Tried 3 sets of new batteries and did not work. I guess that it is really a useless boxFun little gadget. We get a kick out of it. It does what it’s supposed to do. Only wish it went a little slower. It almost too fast to see what’s happening. Came well packaged/protected and it great condition. Fast shipping too. Great gag gift for a boss, perfect to keep on a desk.This is not the useless box you've seen in videos or gifs.The finger pops out and turns it off, but does not have multiple actions like the videos that made them popular.Felt pretty ripped off, but at least my dad was entertained.Unfortunately the arm in this "Useless Box" did not extend quite far enough to flip the switch as it should, so it never worked properly even once.I did contact the seller and they handled it very efficiently. They responded and reimbursed me that same day.This product DID NOT work. Apparently, the only other person that bought one also had the same problem. Had to pay to send it back to get a refund. Like it was MY fault the product was crap.
