I've only used it once so far (3 hour drive each way) and didn't experience any issues. No rain or moisture occurred during our drive so that is one aspect I cannot speak to.The lock mechanism seems flimsy. I was concerned about it and at times couldn't tell if it was closed completely and or locked. I'm more in need of knowing it's closed securely. The locking portion is not as much of a priority for me. I read other reviews of lock issues and keys snapping etc so this is something to be very mindful of moving forward.Ultimately happy with the purchase but for this much money, easier confidence in closure would be good. This cargo box added a ton of space to our '19 Mini Countryman, making a 2,000-mile family trip a possibility in this car. The box is light and easy to install on the roof (bought universal cross bars separately) and holds everything we could put in it.I was a bit disappointed on the box strength; for some reason I was expecting something sturdier, more 'solid', and it wasn't. This Thule box is a bit bendy/flexible and I am not sure it will last many years of heavy use. Having said that, it gave us zero reason for concern in our first long trip and it stayed on (and in the elements) for about 1 month. The lock is also a bit tricky but nothing that wiggling the key in wouldn't solve. It's just that these small details is what I would expect from a cheaper box, not the top-of-the-line.Conclusion: very happy with the purchase and hoping that it will outlast our cars.Works as expected. Mounting system is great. Locking system is a bit finicky. The product we received is a bulky, ugly thing compared to the image in the listing, so that was disappointing. But overall works as intended.Dec 6th, 2020 - (Needed a larger capacity box)I purchased:- Thule Pulse 614 Medium Cargo Box (Just bought a Thule Pulse 615 Large Cargo Box now - See below)- Installed on 2019 Nissan Pathfinder SL 4WD- OEM Roof Rails- Malone Aero Roof Rack Cross Bars w/ Locks- Thule 44" Air Screen (For Wind Noise - Does the job well & completes the look!)*Update* After a 10 hour road Trip from SoCal to Salt Lake City, UT I have returned the Medium cargo box and purchased a Large! With a family of 5... the medium box barely held 4 standard duffle bags and other misc. items. We made it there and back though! However, with that trip, I wish I had the Large cargo box. I just tested it with the 4 standard duffle and I can see that I am able to fit another standard duffle and misc. items. The box is well made, durable, and held up well during our trip. One thing I would like to mention, (don't make the same mistake as I did) I washed the car with the box, the night before and leave in freezing temps (LOL - Common sense, I didn't have it at the time); the tumbler and mechanisms of the lock froze shut. We had to wait until temps was above freezing to be able to open the box and store our items.All-in-all wind noise was minimal. It may have helped a lot that I have a Thule air screen as well. The clamps are well made and every time I stopped/rested on our trip, I checked the box every single time. And it did not budge one bit with the load inside. Very sturdy. Great form-factor and looks great on our vehicle too! The one sided opening didn't bother me at all, it only made it consistent and a habit to go to the passenger side to open the box. It's a must to get a step, really makes it easier to access the box up top. So, if you are looking to get one and need interior space, it is definitely worth the money. You may only take one trip a year, but it's one of those items that you'll need and becomes a necessity when the time comes to use it.**********************************************************************************************************************************Nov 5th, 2020 (Used Box for Thanksgiving road trip to Utah)I bought the Thule Pulse M Cargo Box for my 2019 Nissan Pathfinder. Amazon schedule delivery was spot on with the time of delivery. It came in a pretty big box. Luckily it's pretty light for the size and material it is made from. I installed the box with a Malone Aero Crossbar and Thule air screen fairing (44" w/ part #8702).The good... Its a good size cargo box. I tested fitted 4 travel duffle bags (30" L) and fit well and closes well.Pretty well made. Construction of the clamps and slots work well. It slides nicely in the slots of the cargo box.The rack was about 30.5" apart on the roof and it looks pretty good on the Pathfinder. I drove about 15 miles on the freeway and there was no wind noise heard and didn't make the vehicle feel any different. The bad... other than only one side opening (passenger side) so far, nothing at the moment really. It does what it needs it to do and that is create additional storage. I will be driving to Utah from California to see if it can handle the weather. The way the box is constructed, I would say it will do just fine. Fingers Crossed.Used on vacation and held all my camping stuff; huge pop-up tent, tarp, 2 folding chairs, 2 self-inflatable mattresses, 2 sleeping bags and still had more space available. It held up in high winds and heavy rain on my Hyundai Santa Fe. Traveled for 2 weeks from CA to northern NM to Southern NM then back to CA. Traveled speeds between 65-73. Not sure how it impacted my gas mileage. Also left on my vehicle for another month after returning and it did great in the over 100° temperature. Just have to make sure it is closed completely before driving.Great for family of 5 for road trips. Light weight, so easy to take off and store.Wanted to love this, but it’s ok. The lock is touchy - feels like you have to wiggle this way and that to unlock it. Not a great mechanism. The clamps to attach are . . . Ok. When we first used it one came loose after about 180 miles. I randomly checked at a stop and only 3 of the 4 were tight. It didn’t happen again on the trip l, but it sure made me nervous. Maybe next time I need a backup safety strap as well??It’s a lot cheaper than some Thule models, but I’d say it’s ok.Did a great job hauling from Vegas to Colorado, most of the highway was 80 mph. Only complaint is that closing it can be a bit finicky if it’s really loaded up. Would absolutely recommend this.Cargo box we purchase is in size Large, coming in 77", which is perfect for our Subaru Forester. Here are few highlight and answer:1) It is not painted but in a shiny texture finish. Due to the handling of the carrier, there are a few scratches on the side but it is hardly noticeable.2) For size large, it only opens on the passenger side.3) It does come with the "FastGrip quick-mount system" which makes mounting a breeze. But they don't "Click" like other models.4) My wife drove it around town and does not notice any additional wind noise.5) It is big and could be quite heavy ( almost 40lb). An additional helper would be handy.6) It has a load capacity of 110lb.7) Once it mounted, it is quite hard to reach all the way across the box unless you standing on the back seat. I am 5' 8" and barely can reach across. If accessibility is a main concern for you, you might consider a box which opens both sides.Amazon bonus: Did I mention this box is HUGE! and Amazon delivered ( with a 5 ton truck )with 3 days which is amazing. Most company charges $100+ for local delivery. Big thumbs up for that!We will go on a road trip and provide update later!!Great size for my Mini Copper Clubman which makes it easy to put on and off. Easy mounting hardware makes it quick to secure. It is as shown in photos except for the finish. The texture is rougher than you would believe in the photos but I knew that before purchase. So far works great very happy with purchase.Good quality product and great design features such as the locking system and the way the crossbar clamps are installed which make it feel very secure. Relatively low noise when driving. We got the medium size which is great for a couple of golf bags and some extra soft luggage. I believe that the large size would also be a good fit for the RAV4 if you needed the extra room. Only downside which others have noted is due to its width and only being able to open the unit on one side makes it difficult to load/unload larger items.I really like this product considering it was less then $700. I can now ski with 3 adults and a preschooler (car seat).-I’ve used other Thule products at a higher cost. This cheaper one has notable thinner and poor quality plastic. But does the job for the 3-4 x a year when we ski or go camping.-very easy to install-stable and safe like the higher quality products.-light and is a one person carry… perhaps an advantage over a more expensive versionInstalling the cargo box on the roof of our car was super easy. You can open it from both sides which makes it very convenient.Unfortunately the packing was not done well at all, since it arrived with lots of scratches. That is why I chose to give only three stars. I expect everything to be faultless when paying this amount of money.
