French guitarist/producer/DJ Nicolas Repac's previous album 'Swing Swing' incorporated samples of classic jazz along with modern dance beats and his own guitar. This new album repeats the process but this time using blues, work song and world music samples - it is all pleasant enough and very well executed but while 'Swing Swing' sounded really different and original this has all been done before by Little Axe, Taj Mahal, Moby, C2C etc. I did quite like the incorporation of other world musics into the blues genre which pointed to a kind of universal blues sensibility.
